Welcome to University City
This large college community features plenty of shopping and family activities.
Taking its name from its largest occupant, The University of North Carolina at Charlotte, University City is full of college spirit, lively pubs, and Saturday football crowds. But it’s home to more than just a vibrant student population.
More than 20 regional offices for Fortune 500 companies are located here, as is University Research Park, one of the state’s largest research parks. The PNC Music Pavilion is the site of large outdoor concerts, and the LYNX Blue Line light rail extension makes for quick travel to points throughout the city.
There are over 3,200 apartments in University City and an estimated population of more than 160,000 within its borders. But the area is not entirely urban: Reedy Creek Nature Center and Preserve features a collection of shady trails and paths, and an expansive golf course is also situated here.
